Beit Sela

Jerusalem one way, the bloc the other.

Efrat sits in Gush Etzion, about 20 minutes from Jerusalem as the listing describes it. The drives below are typical ranges in ordinary traffic. Friday afternoons and holiday eves are slower, and they are a poor time to discover that a market has closed.

Links go to the place’s own site or to the Gush Etzion tourism board. Hours and prices change. Nothing here is a tour we run, and the house is not a venue.

The map shows Efrat in general. It is not the house, and it is not a walking route to a synagogue.

Jerusalem

Jerusalem Old City

The Old City’s gates, quarters, and holy sites are the usual first day out. The house listing puts Jerusalem about 20 minutes away; reaching a gate and parking often takes longer than the drive into the city.

Typical drive: About 25–40 minutes, traffic and parking included

Western Wall

The Western Wall is inside the Old City. The official Kotel site publishes visitor information; iTravelJerusalem has a short attraction page as well.

Typical drive: Same drive as the Old City, then a walk from the gate

Machane Yehuda Market

Jerusalem’s produce and food market, useful for a big shop or a weekday lunch. On Friday it is crowded and closes for Shabbat; check the day’s hours before you go.

Typical drive: About 25–40 minutes to central Jerusalem

The Israel Museum

The national museum, in west Jerusalem, with archaeology, Judaica, and art on one campus. Hours change on holidays and Fridays.

Typical drive: About 30–45 minutes

Yad Vashem

Israel’s Holocaust memorial and museum, on the western edge of Jerusalem. It is a serious visit; look at the age guidance on the official site before bringing children.

Typical drive: About 30–45 minutes

Gush Etzion

Herodium National Park

Herod’s palace and burial hill in eastern Gush Etzion: archaeology, underground passages, and a wide view. The Gush Etzion tourism board points to the Israel Nature and Parks Authority for directions and hours.

Typical drive: About 10–15 minutes toward eastern Gush Etzion

Gush Etzion Heritage Center

A sound-and-light visit at Kibbutz Kfar Etzion about the bloc’s history. The tourism board says entry is by advance booking.

Typical drive: About 10 minutes, toward Kfar Etzion

Path of the Patriarchs

The blue trail through Gush Etzion, listed by the regional tourism board. Trailheads vary, so use their page for the current route rather than a single pin from the house.

Typical drive: Access points are often within about 10–20 minutes

The regional site for hours, trail maps, and smaller stops that change by season. Drive times on this page are typical ranges, not a live route.

Typical drive: Most listed stops are a short drive inside the bloc

Wineries

Gush Etzion Winery

The visitors’ center at Gush Etzion Junction. The tourism board describes tastings from a bridge over the winery, because the wine is handled under a stricter kosher standard and visitors do not touch the barrels. Book ahead; hours on that page are shorter on Friday.

Typical drive: About 10 minutes, at the junction

Winery visitors’ center (opens in a new tab)

Lavie Winery

A liqueur producer in the Gush Etzion industrial park, not a vineyard tour at the house. The tourism board says visits are by appointment and lists Badatz Mehadrin Gush Etzion for the liqueurs.

Typical drive: About 10 minutes, to the industrial park

Families

Jerusalem Biblical Zoo

A large zoo in southwest Jerusalem, with room for a family to spend most of a day. Buy tickets on the zoo’s site if you want to skip the gate line.

Typical drive: About 25–40 minutes

Oz veGaon Nature Preserve

A nature preserve just above Gush Etzion Junction, with picnic tables, a playground, and lookouts between the hills. The tourism board asks groups to coordinate in advance.

Typical drive: About 10 minutes, by the junction

Practical

Groceries

A guest in August 2026 wrote that a supermarket is a three-minute walk from the house. The listing does not name the shop. For a larger Friday shop, Machane Yehuda is the market linked above. Check closing times before Shabbat.

Typical drive: The unnamed supermarket: a guest’s three-minute walk
